Co-op (cooperative) advertising is a partnership established between the manufacturer and retailer (or agent) to share the cost of advertising at the local level. In the auto industry it is a partnership, for example, between the Audi auto brand at the national level and the individual Audi car dealers. It also happens in other industries, like the insurance industry), where the corporate marketing group will provide local insurance agents matching funds, media credits, and ad templates that promote both the national brand and the local agent to potential customers. Almost all coop advertising require the advertiser to specifically mention the manufacturer or parent company in the ad. Cooperative advertising is a cost-effective way for manufacturers, retailers or distributors to reach their target markets.
